The Lotts – We Are The Lotts EP reviewed

The Lotts, the loud and loveable Garage rock aficionados from Warrington are back at it with their latest release “We Are The Lotts”.

This 5 track EP is, in my opinion, is a must have for any self-respecting garage rock fan. They manage to take aspects of Ty Segall, Thee Oh Sees, The Stooges and The Hives and roll them all into one unique and incredibly distinctive sound. I really like the track order on this EP, it has that journey/story narrative kind of feeling to it. The first track, aptly named “We Are The Lotts” brings you up to speed with that Hives-esque punky straight up drum beat, followed by a jangly guitar and the rest is history. As we go through the EP we start to see more of the California garage rock sound starting to creep through, right up until the last track “Mouth”, which brings round a welcome change into a more slacker rock kind of sound. Overall, I dig it, its nice, not too samey but not all over the place; this porridge is just right.

The Lotts are a band that scream D.I.Y, live takes and excitement, watching them live will confirm the latter. I look forward to catching them again (having only watched the twice previously) when gigs are back on the cards and I highly recommend that you do too.

We Are The Lotts is available to download and stream now and I believe it is to be release on vinyl later this month. Make sure to give them a follow on social media to keep up with what’s to come.
