This week’s track of the week goes to the wonderful Lucy Gaffney and her glorious debut single Can’t Escape.
Recorded at Liverpool’s Parr Street Studios with The Coral’s James Skelly on production duties, Can’t Escape does an excellent job of showing off Belfast-born Gaffney’s incredible voice to a high degree. It’s a truly beautiful, gleaming dose of golden pop with her honeyed vocals easing the pain of the heartbroken tale she’s telling.
The good news is, I’m assured there’s a lot more where this came from, so stay tuned for more lushious Lucy Gaffney tunes in the near future. For now though, I’m perfectly happy to play Can’t Escape on repeat as the perfect accompaniment to sipping a cup of tea or a sit out in the garden, or both. It’s glorious.
