Marq Electronica may not be a household name quite yet, but it’s fair to say that he’s well on his way. Since debuting back in 2020, it’s clear that Marq has been experimenting with every inch of the electronic landscape. In his latest single, ‘I Thought I Knew It All’, he’s delved into the depths of trance and techno. One thing that is consistent throughout Marq Electronica’s diverse discography is the soul that sails throughout his work. Whatever the soundscape is sculpting the track, Marq’s vocals are soulful, passionate and powerful. And his lyrics are always from the heart. ‘I Thought I Knew It All’ is no different. This single is lyrically rooted in the pain of losing a relationship that you now see you took for granted. The emotion that Marq Electronica can convey is outstanding and makes the track all the more captivating. The vocals sit back in the mix, with a distant tinny quality muffling the tone. This cuts perfectly through the trance-like soundscape. Repetitive guitar riffs and a booming bass drone throughout the track are made dynamic by the breathy samples and soft synths added in. With such a rich discography, ‘I Thought I Knew It All’ shows Marq Electronica has even more hidden up his sleeve than the EDM-infused singles we’ve seen from him before. But without fail, his singles will move you whilst getting you moving every time.
