We are all aware of the unachievable pressure that New Year’s Eve brings. Often we are left to settle with the dreary discussions between distant family friends, or the lacklustre white noise of the Hootenanny. Yet, there is no need to accept your torture of these dull affairs this year, all thanks to the vibrant creations of Fiesta Bombarda. After their sell-out event last year they are teaming up with the Invisible Wind Factory collective for an intergalactic New Year’s Eve spectacle!
The event invites you to embark on the Bombarda Mothership as you are taken you across the carnival cosmos to discover new environments, extra-terrestrial entities and uncover the secrets of the garden galaxy in the their most immersive journey yet! The night’s theme is conducted by a special one-time performance from the INTERGALACTIC KARAOKE ENSEMBLE, a group made up of the Kazimier collective and some of Liverpool’s finest musicians performing the greatest NYE bangers! *Intergalactic attire is encouraged!*
The main stage will explore the best areas of Funk, Brass and Afrobeat with performances from the Renegade Brass Band, Rubber Dub, Down to Funk and DJ sets from Africa Oye and Melodic Destraction along with many more. However, the audible trajectory into 2019 will not stop there. The Planet Dub stage, taken over by Postive Vibration and more, is set to unleash their favourite Reggae, Dub and Jungle tunes into the ever-eveolving spaces of one of Liverpool’s finest venues.
The event’s headliners, Chanel One Sound System (Mikey Dread and his brother Jah T) have been carrying the torch of dub-reggae for nearly 40 years now, spreading the harmonious message set out by Bob Marley, to unite people with Reggae music. Having played all over the world, in Israel, New Zealand, Turkey and all over Europe, in venues such as Wembley stadium and having played 30 consecutive years at the Notting Hill Carnival, the duo are one of the most experienced and sought after soundsystems out there. There sound is deep and warming, and their positive energy is infectious. You can guarantee that these guys, along with the whole event, will be bringing nothing but good music, good vibes and a mind bending experience like no other to thrust you into the new year!
