Electric Six – Coming to Liverpool O2 Academy

Detroit Garage 6 Piece Electric Six are currently on tour and set to play Liverpool on Feb 28th (O2 Academy Liverpool).

They are best known in the UK for their hits Danger! High Voltage, Gay Bar and the controversy over the video for  their cover of Radio GaGa featuring lead singer Dick Valentine playing the part of Freddie Mercury’s ghost dancing in front of his grave.  (The band are massive queen fans and meant it as a tribute, though you can see why some may find it offensive.  Judging by Queen’s videos I’d say Freddie Mercury had a good sense of humour and would have seen the funny side!)

Since their last hit was in 2005, you may well have been wondering what happened to them, but fear not, despite various line-up changes, they’ve been beavering away recording solid albums with their signature blend of off-beat intelligent lyrics fused with garage, funk, disco, punk, new wave and above all, fun.  They have a reputation of putting on a lively performance.

Their latest release “How Dare You” is their 13th album and a particularly strong offering.  Their record company, Metropolis, summed it up perfectly for me in the release notes “HOW DARE YOU is their longest record to date but you will ache for more.”

Electric Six (with support from Mutant Monster) perform at O2 Academy Liverpool, 11-13 Hotham Street, Liverpool, L3 5UF on Wednesday 28th February 2018, Doors 7pm.

Tickets available now £14 in advance from ticketmaster or the box office on 0844 477 2000
