Urbanista’s Tapes Off The Track is a series of live recordings of local music talent, filmed in some of Merseyside’s most idyllic settings, with the aim of capturing the magic of our chosen artists in their purest, most stripped back form. Here is a session from the fantastic Billy Bibby:
Billy Bibby is the former and founding lead guitarist of Catfish and the Bottlemen. In 2007, at age 17, Bibby co founded this working class quartet formed in Llandudno, North Wales. They relentlessly gigged their way across the UK, and occasionally abroad, building a fiercely loyal fan base, selling out increasingly larger venues, and ultimately securing a recording deal in 2013 that would lead to the release of a Top 10 debut album, The Balcony, now Certified Platinum in the UK. Now Billy and his new band, Billy Bibby & The Wry Smiles, are set to do it all again. Since playing their first full band gig in November of 2015, the band have tallied up close to 150 gigs and festivals in 40+ UK cities, released a début EP and 4 follow-up singles, with a fifth on its way. Such festival slots at Tramlines, Victorious Festival and Kendal calling to name a few. “This fella knows how to write a chorus that one day a crowd–a BIG crowd-will sing back to him.” Tim Cocker – Virgin Radio “Full of guts and life and love and a thoroughly persuasive belief in the redemptive power of music. You listen to that, it believes.” Adam Walton – BBC Radio Wales
