An accessible, child-centred show, performed by a diverse cast of international and learning disabled performers is set to be a Christmas hit this year in Liverpool.
STAR OF WONDER
Tuesday 17th — Saturday 21st December
Unity Theatre, Liverpool
In Star of Wonder at the Unity Theatre in the city centre, audiences of all ages and abilities are invited to join three friends on a wondrous journey to follow a star.
What follows is a hilarious, magical and memorable show for all the family, full of clowning, magical interaction and brilliant puppetry.
Created by the award-winning Liverpool-based collective Teatro Pomodoro in partnership with Theatre Porto, and performed by a cast of international actors, Star of Wonder is the perfect way to make memories this festive season.
Through working alongside the charity Kind, the Unity Theatre have been able to provide free performances and discounted tickets to SEN schools, lower income schools, and local schools for several limited Schools Performances.
Simone from Teatro Pomodoro said: “Star of Wonder has been created with children of all ages in mind. The production has been designed to be as accessible as possible and uses clowning, physical theatre, and shadow puppetry instead of spoken word, so that children of all abilities and languages can enjoy a laugh-out-loud festive theatre experience. What’s more, all performances of Star of Wonder will take place in a relaxed, autism-friendly environment.”
Made with the ideas of children from local primary schools, the show is ‘relaxed by design and not adaptation’, meaning children can enter and leave as necessary.
Star of Wonder will be performed at the Unity Theatre in Liverpool from Tuesday 17th to Saturday 21st December 2024. The show is supported by Arts Council England.
