Skeleton Coast Festival returns for a third year on Saturday 1st September at Leasowe Castle.

Located in the heart of the Wirral Peninsula, it’s the perfect location for headliners The Coral to launch their eighth album.

Move Through The Dawn with the castle’s two halls and chapelcharacterised by a Jamesian spookiness, think A Warning To The Curious and that mysterious stranger dressed in black.

There are two stages. The Coral will play the Skeleton Coast stage held in the main hall with full support from Tim Burgess & The Anytime Minutes.Other acts confirmed for the Skeleton Coast stage are The Mysterines, Cut Glass Kings, Fuzzy Sun and Peach Fuzz while the chapel next to the main hall will host the Tim Peaks stage with The Fernweh, Marvin Powell, The Rituals, Niamh Rowe and Solis.

The Skeleton Coast festival began in 2016. Curated by The Coral and their Skeleton Key label founded the same year, its status has grown quickly and it is now one of the UK’s most celebrated annual boutique festivals.

Leasowe Castle has a rich history. It was originally built in 1593by Ferdinand, 5th Earl of Derby, second heir to the English throne. Named “New Hall”, it consisted only of an octagonal tower. The door was six feet above ground level for security and protection from high tides and the walls were one metre thick. During the First World War, it accommodated German prisoners, then from 1970 to 82 it remained derelict when it was restored to its full historical glory.
