This Saturday, Liverpool’s Indian Arts company, Milap present an online performance as part of their music concert series, ‘Music for the Mind and Soul’, to celebrate Navratri.
Navratri is a nine-day festival celebrating good overcoming evil through dancing with others.
Designed to help you unwind and calm your spirits, Saturday’s online premiere will see Dr. Rajeeb Chakraborty and Soumen Sarkar perform ‘Raag Jaunpuri’, a morning Raaga, which will be available on Milap’s YouTube Channel from 10am.
Dr. Rajeeb Chakraborty is a musician, composer and one of India’s finest sarod players. Known for his versatility and expressive nature, he is much loved all over the world. Trained in both Indian and Western classical music, his musical abilities both genre and culture spanning.
Soumen Sarkar is a Kolkata based Tabla artists and has performed extensively across India with many of India’s top Indian classical musicians.
In addition to Saturday’s concert, Milap also presents a free online class, available to view any time from 6pm tonight. Learn and perform the Raas dance with Milap’s artist in residence, Sheetal Maru as part of the Navratri celebrations. The class will be streamed on Milap’s Facebook Page.
