Yassassin are a band well and truly on top of their game. Latest release Wreckless says as much, rather loudly. It’s lovely loudly though. Maybe kinda reckless wreckless at heart but very much an explosive, at times cinematic squeal with parts in all the right places.
Damn it’s just so beautifully scuzzy. It’ll kick you up the arse and slap you across the face in both directions and you’ll still press play again and again. It’s got everything we’ve come to love about Yassassin but turned up a notch on the feedback scale with a belter riff to boot.
The scenario is, your meeting someone new but don’t know what you want, cause you want it all – kinda like being at a buffet but in relationship terms.
The accompanying b+w video goes along with the songs’ changes in pace and tone wonderfully; having fun in a chaotic, darkly fun and quite simply reckless wreckless manner. Apt.
Seriously though this is fantastic and you’ve got to hope there’s an extended record of some kind in the vault where these three and a half minutes came from!
