Jake Marley’s Track Of The Week: Ian Skelly – Captain Caveman

This week’s track of the week goes to Ian Skelly and Captain Caveman – the majestic lead single from his second solo record Drifter’s Skyline – out July 31.

Founder and drummer in legendary Merseyside band The Coral, Skelly released his debut solo record Cut From A Star in 2012 before going on to form Serpent Power with fellow Coral member Paul Molloy.

Skelly teased a new track – which we now know to be Captain Caveman – on his social media in April. It’s a stunning doo-wop number of bubblegum lyricism and lush golden guitars over a dooby bassline, set in a cartoon world that evokes the distant places we visit during a daydream. Pure good vibes and perfect respite for these times. Press play, zone out, let the world drift by and feel the warmth wash over you. Bliss.

Drifter’s Skyline is released physically and digitally July 31, Captain Caveman is available to stream now via your preferred streaming platform here
