Jake Marley’s Track Of The Week: whenyoung – Given Up

When it comes to red hot emerging bands whenyoung are topping my list right now. The Limerick raised, London based trio have a new EP on the way via big hitters Virgin EMI and are heading over to see us on tour this week, ahead of two huge tours supporting The Vaccines (europe) and Blossoms (UK).

All that, coupled with the fact their new tune is bloody fantastic means they’re a shoe-in for this week’s track of the week.

The tune in question – Given Up – the title track from the aforementioned new EP due Nov. 9, is set to win them plenty of new fans on their travels this autumn and winter and is already a firm Radio 1 favourite.

An exhuberant yet subtle nudge – Given Up isn’t running at you screaming and shouting, practically punching you in the face. Instead choosing to attract you with guile and perfectly crafted indie-pop with nods to the defiance of punk and sweet melodies of the 90s. Lovely, lovely.

Coming ahead of their UK dates and with the EP set to drop smack bang in-between their Vaccines and Blossoms tours – Given Up is all set to build upon the buzz created by Actor, Heaven On Earth and Pretty Pure and propel this wonderful band to new heights.

Make sure to get whenyoung in your ears and catch them at one or more of the following dates, they’re so worth it.
