“Whirring guitars and big alt-punk tunes come from the stage and they absolutely hit the spot.” – Buzz Magazine
“With a growing reputation for their incendiary live shows, Gurriers already demonstrate a desire not to be pigeon-holed with an experimentation in sound and a freedom of expression.” – God Is In The TV
Introducing Gurriers, the hotly tipped Irish five-piece, making a mark with their official debut single release, “Approachable”, out today, 1 February 2023. Described as “raw as a butcher’s cut, and just as fresh” by the Irish Times, and championed by the likes of Steve Lamacq on BBC Radio 6 Music, the Dublin-based band balance harshness with a fresh tinge of sharp, raging melodies.
First single “Approachable” is a high octane, no nonsense slap in the face of whirring guitars, visceral screams and pure post-punk anger. Produced by Chris Ryan (Just Mustard, Enola Gay, NewDad), the track takes an inflamed look at the modern world, with intense verses and an explosive chorus punctuated by the phrase “I was born in the wrong era”. About the single, lead singer Dan Hoff explains: “Approachable is a tongue in cheek anthem about the rising far right rhetoric all over the world.”

Gurriers – “Approachable”
Formed during the pandemic and emerging from the rising post-punk scene in Ireland, the last two years has seen Gurriers’ wall-shaking sound break through to audiences during their anthemic live performances of clashing distortion and relentless drums. Reverberating guitars, epic melodies and vocals bursting with snotty self-confidence bind Gurriers’ songwriting into a sound created for those nights where the sweat literally drips off the walls.
Supporting acts such as Enola Gay, Surf Curse, Been Stellar, and Goat Girl, the growing word of mouth surrounding the band saw them tour the UK last year with Chapaqqua Wrestling, as well as playing festivals including SWN (UK), Mad Cool (ES), Reeperbahn (DE) and London Calling (NL). Their most recent appearances include Other Voices festival as part of the Dingle Gin Music Trail in December, an incendiary show at Whelans 2023 in Dublin as part of their Ones To Watch last month as well as Eurosonic (NL).
Originally stemming from a no-name project among colleagues, roommates, and best friends, Gurriers has evolved into a passionate machine for uncompromising punk rock, leading the forefront as one of the most exciting new bands coming out of Ireland.
