Music Photography + Live Music: Shout About It Live 2018 – Preview

Interest in music photography has really taken off in recent years.  Go to practically any gig and there will be people snapping away whether on their iPhone from the audience or with a professional DSLR from the photo pit.

So, wouldn’t it be a good idea to combine great live bands with photographers exhibiting their best work, and have a go at photographing some bands yourself*?  Well, that’s what Shout About it Live 2018 is all about!  It’s the brainchild of Georgia Flynn who as a freelance photographer herself, aims to create a platform for photographers, creatives and musicians to showcase their work and build contacts across the industry.

Shout About It aims to bring creative communities together:
● To work together with musicians and photographers to highlight the advancements in technologies and progress in the digital world
● To use photography to create opportunities within the wider city region
● To have a platform for photographers, creatives and musicians to showcase their work and build contacts across the industry
● To work with Youth & Community groups to build engagement in these industries

Photographers from both around the world and around the corner will be exhibiting including:

WARREN MILLAR,
ANDY TATT,
EXPOSING SHADOWS,
AFT PHOTOGRAPHY,
KATIE FROST,
GEORGIA FLYNN,
ALEX WILLIAMS,
STEVEN DONNELLY,
PAULTERGEIST PHOTO,
ROCKSTAR RISING PHOTOGRAPHY.

Oh, and me John W. King, contributor to both Urbanista and my own Live Music Reviews.  I generally only post my pictures online, so it will be nice to print some out and get some feedback.

There are some truly great photographers on that list and it will be an honour to exhibit alongside them.

Some of the music highlights include:

Himalayas – Indie with attitude, this Cardiff band are loud, raucous and full of energy

Rews – Alternative rock duo with beautiful harmonies from London and Belfast

Tom Speight – Acoustic almost country duo with haunting female backing vocals from London

Other musicians taking part are from as far afield as Canada ‘Novusolis

and Los Angeles ‘Melinda Ortner.’
