Motel Sundown, a Folk Rock three piece based in Liverpool will release their first single “Chicago” at The Jacaranda Phase One on December 18. Ahead of this debut release, Urbanista got a sneak listen.
Beginning with a sullen breath, “Chicago” is a mournful and lachrymose ballad that builds from its thoughtful acoustic guitar finger picking as those sweeping guitar parts accentuate the contemplative lyrics of a love long gone.
With rich, earthy harmonies, Motel Sundown have a solid foundation to build on and “Chicago” is a wonderful example of the range and style this trio is capable of. “Chicago” rolls on as the perfect soundtrack to a roadtrip at sunset, leaving your troubles behind and your hopes out in front.
In the previous year Motel Sundown have performed at Melodica Festival (Reykjavik), Country on the Coast (Portsmouth), The Grand Opry Sessions (Liverpool), and more recently, supported American Singer/Songwriter Alice Walker at the renowned Grateful Fred Sessions (Southport).
‘Chicago’ is the band’s debut single, due for release on December 18th, which will be accompanied with a tour across Ireland and the UK.
