Columbia are a unique rock n roll band that formed about 18 months ago. The band members are a close group of mates previous to starting Columbia and they actually formed the band before they could play any instruments. Influenced by the great bands of the past such as: The Beatles, Oasis, The Rolling Stones, Stone Roses and annoyed at the current state of music, they formed Columbia. Hard work & dedication took place for the following year, learning and progressing together musically & lyrically as a band and as friends, enjoying every minute of it.
Since the 1st gig in October last year the band have improved massively and are really coming into their own. They have found their direction with the music getting better & better every gig. You can already see some of the traits of the great bands of the past, attitude like Oasis, togetherness like the Stones & the scouse cheek of the Beatles all contribute to the great unique sound of Columbia.
Songs to look out for, ‘Things Are Gonna Change’, ‘Step Inside’, ‘High Times’, ‘No place’ & a personal favourite ‘Where No Man Has Been’ (Video Below).
As well as keeping their schedule busy with the band Columbia are also set to feature in a new documentary by acclaimed Film Maker Steve Read. “From the Ground Up”, will document the band’s progress from inception to their initial gig’s, to the recording of their demo album, which is to be showcased to noted record company exec’s that have requested first dib’s.
The Director’s previous features included the critically acclaimed Gary Numan portrait “Android In La La Land” which acquired several nominations from Europe’s major film festival’s.
As part of the documentary, Columbia will headline at Circo later next mont hand will then concentrate on pre-production for said album.
