Episode Three features professional drummer Joe Montage who is the owner of a professional recording studio in West Yorkshire.
Joe is has also toured throughout the UK and Europe with band and the acclaimed Beatlemania theatre show.
Joe connected with Mark (Our host) through social media and they hit it off with Mark finding his back story fascinating. From how he learned to play the piano at the age of 6 to finding his love of Jazz which led him to graduate at Leeds Uni with a BA Honours studying the subject. In fact, it’s insightful to hear Joe articulate how Jazz should be understood – especially for someone like me who has always struggled with the idiosyncrasies and variants of Jazz.
The other thing that caught my attention about Joe, is that he is obsessed with the drumming technique of Ringo Starr, as I found out when I spoke to him at his studio.
