From her wonderful self-titled EP through to her sparkling debut LP Sleepless Dreamer, I’ve long been an admirer of Pearl Charles and her music. So seeing her return with a new single put a much needed smile on my face this week.
Pressing play for the first time on What I Need – the cosmic-pop lead single from her sophomore record Magic Mirror, dropping January 15 on Kanine Records – my heart instantly fills with warmth and joy. It’s majestic, but that’s what I’ve come to expect from Pearl, she’s a star…and even in these gloomy skies, she’s shining brighter than ever.
