Liverpool Sound City reveals headliners Mabel and Loyle Carner plus first wave of artists for May 2019 festival

Following a brilliant debut year in its new home of Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle – which saw Best Metropolitan Festival and Best Small Festival nominations at the UK Festival Awards 2018 Liverpool Sound City has today unveiled headliners Mabel and Loyle Carner, plus the first wave of artists for next year’s Baltic bash in May.

Sound City have always sailed the seas of discovery, showcasing and championing both new musical trends and emerging breakthrough artists from around the world and closer to home.

Often being a festival prepared to take a fresh path and be innovative and bold in its lineup choices, one thing Sound City certainly isn’t is safe. That’s the case again here with the bold booking of two breakthrough artists from genres often overlooked by festivals, as headliners – lovechild of 00’s esque R&B – Mabel (Saturday May 4) and one of Hip Hop’s bright young things Loyle Carner (Sunday May 5).

As always Sound City has packed the rest of the current lineup with the best Liverpool’s thriving emerging scene has to offer, as well as a fine selection of emerging talent from further afield – some you may know, some you soon will.

Liverpool’s own Louis Berry sits proudly at the top end of this announcement alongside exciting live bands like The Magic Gang, Sophie and The Giants and Our Girl.

Another thriving Liverpool band Red Rum Club – fresh off their sell-out headline gig at the cities 02 Academy – headline the Modern Sky UK stage.
