Life At The Arcade are fast developing a reputation for churning out festival-ready bangers and Antidote might just be the best yet – scintillating . 9/10
Liverpool music is having a great year and bands like Life At The Arcade are a huge part of that. Churning out bangers left, right and centre, touring the country, knocking it out the park at some the UK’s best loved festivals and even finding time for a french invasion – playing Le Truskel in Paris last month.
Now they’re gearing up for a big summer and second half of 2019 – festivals are again on the radar with This Feeling showing the band great support, then there’s a big hometown headline to come at the end of the year. It’s all systems go.
In the midst of their busy schedule the lads are dropping a new single in the form of Antidote – which is my track of the week.
From the opening throb, it’s a bouncy, festival-ready anthem that continues to show Life At The Arcade as a band very much on an upward curve.
Whilst still very much an indie-pop banger at heart, Antidote – in addition to being renowned as the emphatic opener of the bands live set – shows a different side to Life At The Arcade, they can do heavy and filthy, as well as anthemic and poppy.
As frontman Paddy Clegg aludes to: “This song shows the heavier sounding side of Life At The Arcade. I wrote this track about having someone being my drug / reason to keep me on my feet when times were pretty s**t”.
In support of Antidote, Life At The Arcade are heading out on tour this summer, playing the following dates…
