There’s something in the water down in Brighton you know. There’s always something fresh brewing. Less seaside resort, more hotbed for red-hot new bands seemingly by the week, these days.
That’s where we’re off for this week’s track of the week, courtesy of some seriously cool, at times Pulp Fiction soundtrack worthy licks from Brighton quintet Heirloom.
The track in question Speak In Tongues is very broody psych-pop by the dozen – think very 6 music Marc Riley show-ish, galloping guitars and lush synths grooving and jiving all the way. Damn lovely but darkly tinged just enough.
There’s more to come in the new year, keep an eye out.
For fans of: Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, Nancy Sinatra & Lee Hazlewood, Black Honey.
Also check out by Heirloom: Femme; dark organs, dueling vocals, again very Tarantino. Delicious.
