Since the Crimea’s last concert in 2013 – Davey Macmanus completed a Nursing degree and has been working as a Nurse first in Africa then London, Cork and Dublin – the summer of 2024 sees his return. He has gone from 20 years on the stage to the Emergency room. He has lived in the most dangerous township in South Africa – Diepsloot and worked with the homeless children there.
From his first tour supporting the Pogues to Top of the Pops to making it big in China to Q magazines top 5 moments that changed music when The Crimea released ‘secrets of the witching hour’ as the first ever free album.
2024 marks 30 years since the release of Macmanus first solo album 1994s ‘Stuff your cherry pie’. Recorded in the old Malthouse studios by Meic Knox-Thomas. Macmanus is playing five shows this summer. Starting with ‘Blue dog’ – the first song he ever wrote – Davey Macmanus will play songs of the Crocketts and the Crimea – along with his solo material.
