An Electric eccentric extravaganza is the 3 words to sum up the event I attended for the launch of Vivienne Westwood ss18 collection.
As I glided through the front doors upon arrival at the Liverpool store in Cavern Walks, I was greeted by Holly and Helen the assistant manager who were dressed to the hilt in full Viv classic style of course, a warm friendly welcome no less and then to be greeted with the most quirky cocktails and beautiful colourful canapés i have ever seen was a treat.
I knew this event was going to be right up my street.
As people started to arrive the atmosphere was buzzing, as I swiftly headed straight for the handbag and jewellery section I was like a child in a candy shop I kid you not, what can I say I’m a lady who likes nice things!
The collection was very tasteful and beautiful, not only easy on the eye but also carrying a positive message and the diversity was very apparent as per usual in true VW style, from save the oceans to climate revolution.
This lady is a fantastic activist within our society today.
We spoke to store manager Chris Griff who describes himself as an “English Eccentric”, and who has not only worked at VW HQ since 2007, and becoming store manager in Jan 17 after having a long stint as the manager for garlands nightclub, but having met Vivienne herself in 1985 at the age of 10/11 which was a chance encounter after having visited the first VW shop and purchasing a rugby top worth £30 to leaving the store and witnessing Viv herself pulled up on her bicycle with her dog in toe both wearing matching headscarves, it was at that moment that their paths would be cemented for many years to come.
I found Chris very charismatic and passionate in his love for his work, his staff and the VW brand, a mountain of knowledge had us chatting for a good while and his story telling had me gripped and wanting to know more and more, however with Chris having written not one but 3 books which he plans on publishing on his 50th Birthday, we will have to wait for those tales, and being privvy to a few I can tell you that it’s going to be worth the wait.

The evening was in flow swing and as people gazed their eyes over the new collection it was apparent that the clients were made to feel special and any needs were catered to in a professional high standard.
Customer service was at its peak in store, along with passion and drive made for a very welcoming, friendly and special evening.
Guests were treated to two performances on the evening from a female contortionist which was both fascinating and entertaining and absolutely fit the theme of the evening.
Guests enjoying themselves.
One collection that did catch my eyes was this signature tartan classic.
The colours were stunning and the quality was second to none, from shoes to satchels this was no doubt my favourite of the collection in store.
Now would it be a VW article without some fantastic jewellery to purr over ladies?!, I think not!
I did even purchased myself a cheeky bracelet on the evening- I just could not resist, however it took me a good while to choose as the choice was overwhelming but excitingly satisfying.

To sum up it was beyond great to see and touch the SS18 collection, and thank you to all at VW for the warm welcome and perfect refreshments, I will look forward to the next event.
Until next time
