Merseyside parks and gardens to host Shakespeare’s greatest love story

Perhaps the greatest love story ever told; perhaps one of the most poignant portrayals of passion, desire and love. A tale of two feuding families, brought to some Merseyside’s most idyllic locations.

This summer, Imaginarium Theatre will present Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet as an indulgent feast for the senses. The various outdoor venues will be filled with pulsing Carnevale rhythms merging with Italian Opera, explosive fight choreography, thrilling fire dancing and a pair of star crossed lovers destined for violent ends.

Led by an exciting creative team that includes British Equity Fight Director Renny Krupinski, Broadway and West End Choreographer Beverley Edmonds (Around the World in 80 Days, Worst Witch), Royal Shakespeare Company Associate Director Michael Corbidge and others, this production promises to be a dynamic outdoor treat.

The summer tour will take in a host of outdoor locations across Merseyside, including Reynolds Park in Woolton, Ness Gardens, Crosby Hall, Sudley House, and many more.

Romeo and Juliet is always a stunning story, but this new spectacle looks set to be injected with an added dose of wonder! Imaginarium Theatre’s Artistic Director Gaynor La Rocca said that they are “delighted to be once again working in partnership with the Shakespeare North Trust, Arts Council England and the Royal Shakespeare Company as we re-launch as Imaginarium Theatre UK.

Over 100 community performers and volunteers have been involved in the creative process of Romeo and Juliet, and the accompanying schools knife crime programme ‘Violent Ends’ will engage a further 6000 young people this autumn.

Bring a picnic and a bottle of wine and enjoy Shakespeare’s greatest romance in the sunshine or under the stars, whatever you prefer.”
