Loads of us feel stuck in a rut at some point in our lives. The ‘is this it?’ moments, the ‘work is shite but I’m stuck here forever’ thoughts that just won’t bugger off. Ever wondered why you’re going nowhere fast? Yep, that happened to me nearly three years ago. A mammoth wallop up the arse catapulted me out of my ‘comfort rut’ and I left a job that had broken me and set up on my own. Scary but necessary and that just about saved me.
I had the good fortune to cross paths with a top bloke called Phil Steele. He’s a qualified hypnotist and reiki master, plus he’s an Evertonian so all good in my book. He attuned me in Reiki Level 1 and more recently I popped in for a sesh of something called soul coaching. I knew what I wanted to do and how to get my shit together, I just needed a little shove onto the right path. That’s what soul coaching does; it helps you to give your life more purpose and meaning, fine-tunes your focus (which is boss for people like me who have a ‘monkey mind’ which doesn’t ever shut the hell up), and pinpoints parts of your life that’d make you happier and contented. The session did the job and genuinely helped me to just ‘do it now’ and to have ‘no loose ends’ (two fabulous yet oh so simple mantras from Phil). He’s incredibly easy to talk to, has a calm, comforting and relaxed manner, and has a way of guiding you to grasp onto what’s already there trying to slap you in the face. I was buzzing when I left and was able to carry out the stuff I knew would make me happy.
Phil has based himself in one of Liverpool’s beautiful architectural delights – the Port of Liverpool Building on the waterfront. He’s a qualified Reiki Master, NLP coach, clinical hypnotherapist, and has created his own highly effective and successful therapies for helping and empowering people to beat addictions and overcome limiting behaviours and beliefs. He’s a motivational speaker and has got a book due out in 2019 about sleep. He also teaches through accredited courses to learn hypnosis, reiki, and crystal healing, if you quite fancy learning these skills to either set up yourself or just to enhance your own personal development. He does face-to-face or via Skype so it doesn’t matter where in the world you are.
Phil’s been on quite a journey to get to where he wanted to be, and worked hard to establish himself as one of the go-to people in Liverpool who actually can help you see life in a much brighter and positive way: “I worked for Shop Direct who own Very and Littlewoods as a senior manager. I was unfulfilled and stressed, rang in sick one day and felt really guilty and down, thinking I would spend the rest of my life doing a job I didn’t like with people I couldn’t relate to. So, I read Viktor Frankl’s ‘Man’s Search for Meaning’ and the phrase ‘If you can’t change a situation, change yourself’ was the catalyst for me to get off my arse and do something. I listened to Paul McKenna, the hypnotist, and that was my calling. I trained on Rodney Street, set up my office straight away, learned reiki, became a master and got to the point a year later where I could leave Shop Direct and do this full-time. Now I combine my work with teaching hypnosis and studying a Masters in psychology at uni.”
